Icom’s IC-F5022M Marine Base Station is now available in a Battery Back-up version, which is ideal for any maritime organisation that is reliant on continual VHF Marine radio communications. This new unit provides organisations with added reassurance by automatically switching from mains to battery dependant in the event of a power faliure/outage. The batteries, which can provide up to 14 hours back up for the mains base station, will automatically recharge and the unit will switch back to AC operation when the mains supply is restored.

Big Screen PC Navigation from Digital Yacht, SmarterTrack2011 launches London Boat Show

Digital Yacht (stand B14 in the North Hall) have launched a new version of their electronic chart and navigation software program, which allows it to interface with the latest onboard systems through NMEA and now through NMEA2000. Called SmarterTrack 2011, it comes complete with a USB card reader which can take plug in electronic charts from Navionics in either SD or CF format.

MES Launch MAC Base Electronic Charting Programme

Marine Electronic Services Ltd will launch MAC ENC at the London Boat Show in January. MAC ENC is a new MAC based electronic charting programme capable of real time navigation. It turns your MAC notebook into a full function electronic chart plotter and it accepts industry standard NMEA data from GPS, instruments and AIS receivers. It will provide an overlay of your current position, previous track and current course on detailed electronic charts. Waypoints can be created and edited at the click of a mouse and can include name, icon and description information.
